Located in the charming town of Whitefish, MT, Abruzzo Italian Kitchen offers an authentic Italian dining experience that artfully balances rustic tradition with contemporary flair. This Italian restaurant captivates guests with its thoughtfully curated menu, featuring both classic favorites and inventive dishes that highlight local Montana ingredients.
From the moment you step inside or settle in on the inviting covered patio, the atmosphere pulses with lively conversation and the warm aroma of freshly baked bread and herbs. While the patio offers vibrant energy — perfect for social gatherings — the interior exudes cozy elegance, making Abruzzo Italian Kitchen an excellent destination for both spirited nights out and intimate dinners.
The menu is a celebration of regional Italian flavors paired with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Start your meal with standout starters like the Calamari Picatta, where tender squid meets a zesty blend of lemon, capers, and chili flakes, delivering a bright yet balanced kick. The Elk Tartar is another must-try – intricately seared and complemented by a fresh citrus note that perfectly accents the rich, earthy flavor of elk.
For pasta lovers, the offerings here are especially memorable. The Seafood Pasta bursts with ocean-fresh bounty, its silky strands coated in a savory sauce that lingers pleasantly on the palate. If you prefer something heartier, the Chicken & Mushroom Rigatoni weaves creamy, earthy mushroom flavors with tender chicken morsels, creating a deeply satisfying dish. Patrons also rave about the Vodka pasta — a smooth, tomato-infused sauce that strikes a harmonious balance between indulgence and lightness, though larger appetites might find the portion modest.
Steaks and mains are equally impressive, showcasing expert technique and vibrant seasoning. The 12oz New York Strip, paired with smashed fingerling potatoes and fire-roasted tomatoes, offers a juicy, tender bite enhanced by robust garlic and rosemary notes. For those seeking something truly special, the Veal Chop Parmigiano melds layers of prosciutto, tomato passato, and parmesan with rigatoni, creating a decadent, multi-dimensional experience.
No Italian meal would be complete without dessert, and Abruzzo’s sweet selections deliver the perfect finale. Dive into the luscious Milk Chocolate Panna Cotta, or savor the Butterscotch Budino with its velvety caramel and sea salt accents that awaken the senses with just the right amount of sweetness. The Flourless Chocolate Torta, adorned with luxardo cherries and sprinkled Italian meringue, offers an elegant, rich conclusion to your feast.
Signature cocktails like the Old Fashioned and the refreshing Bee’s Knees complement the menu beautifully, expertly crafted to enhance the flavors of each dish while adding a spirited touch to your dining experience.

!We were a party of 8, had the covered patio seating, the area was really nice. It was a bit loud but doable. I loved the calamari, I also got seafood pasta and it was amazing! My husband got the Vodka pasta and if you are hungry and a big boy, it might be a bit small, just fyi. We did have a bit of an issue with reservation, the phone number was wrong & the lady on the phone put us on the wrong date. The ladies at the front were a little dismissive but the manager was a lovely lady! Shout out to her and our amazing server! Very friendly & bubbly!
Excellent elk tartare and roasted chicken (full of flavor, perfectly moist with crispy skin) but the absolute star of the show was the heirloom tomato and crab salad. This is one of those dishes you instantly have to pause and savor. I definitely moaned more than once. Do not skip out on that dish folks.
Wow - I was impressed with this place! Definitely a place you won't be disappointed with. Worth the trip and the price. Great Italian! I will gladly recommend this restaurant to all my friends family and followers!
This was the best food in Whitefish. Hands down. The entrance is a little hidden but every dish was so good. We loved the pasta and pizza options. Also not pictured was the Veal. Super tender and really yummy. We will for sure come back if we visit again!
This was the best place we ate at in Whitefish! Wish we would've been able to get in a couple times during our visit. The pastas were homemade. The salads were wonderful! The individual pizzas were thin and yummy. They have a wood burning oven. Cocktails were lovely. Everything was wonderful!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this Italian restaurant! From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the attentive service, everything felt authentic and inviting. The highlight of the evening was without question the wild boar ragù was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced with just the right touch of herbs and slow-cooked depth. The pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection, soaking up every bit of that incredible sauce. It’s the kind of dish you dream about long after the meal is over. Truly one of the best Italian dining experiences I’ve had, and I can’t wait to come back.
When in Whitefish, Abruzzo is a must stop! We had reservations for eleven, and had a fabulous time. We were sat in a cozy space that seemed to be made just for our group and the atmosphere was perfect! The food was incredible (pictured is the wild boar linguine) and the service was amazing! Our waitress was friendly, informative and fun! The NY Strip is legendary and highly recommended! 5 Stars for sure!
We’ve come here twice. First time on the recommendation of a local and now a couple years later again. Did not disappoint. Hannah was our server and awesome at her job. You can tell she loves people and service. Fave of ours is the Carbonara pizza!
